The traditional industries of Nantwich – salt, leather and tanning, shoemaking and clothing – have all declined and no longer provide employment.
The town continues its links with its agricultural hinterland but increasingly it relies on service industries – education, retail and information technology for local jobs.
The Town Council works closely with the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry to encourage the development of the local economy.
