There are reports of gatherings where people are using the town benches and not adhering to social distancing rules. Members are asked to consider the option of temporarily removing the benches to deter gatherings. The benches could also then be refurbished before being re-instated.
9. NOTICE OF MOTION
9.1 Councillor John Statham – That this council implements a petitions policy as part of its wider efforts to improve the democratic process and involvement of residents in decision making. A report and draft policy will be provided for debate at the relevant committee and, once agreed, considered by full council at the earliest opportunity.
9.2 Councillor Arthur Moran – At the Cheshire East Council Meeting on the 16th December 2020 a notice of motion was passed that the principle of introducing a default 20mph speed limit in central, urban and residential roads (these to be formally agreed in line with the law and the Council’s decision-making arrangements) – not a blanket measure be supported. ‘20’s plenty in 2020’ will now be in Cheshire Easts Speed Management Strategy. Resident Groups Town and Parish Councils are encouraged to send proposed schemes to Active Travel, Cheshire East.
