Councillor Stuart Bostock
Councillor Stuart Bostock is Mayor of Nantwich Town Council. He was invested at the Mayor Making ceremony held via an internet meeting on Wednesday 5th May 2021. He succeeds Councillor Pam Kirkham who was Mayor in 2020/21.
Councillor Bostock’s wife, Kathleen Bostock is his Consort. Councillor Bostock appointed Rev. Dr Mark Hart as the Mayor’s Chaplin. Councillor Peter Groves has been selected as Deputy Mayor.
Cllr Bostock was born, bred and educated in Nantwich and has lived in the Town, within the North and West Ward he represents, all of his life.
He and his Wife Kath, who is a Staff Nurse with the NHS , were married in 1969 at St Mary’s Church and will hopefully celebrate 52 years marriage later this year. They have two children, son Simon, who they sadly lost in October 2020, and daughter Stephanie, who is best known to members as Cllr Stephanie Wedgwood. Stuart and Kath have eight Grandchildren, seven of which live in the Town, the eight and eldest Lucy who lives and works in North Yorkshire.
When he left NAGS in 1963 Stuart’s first job was at the then Nantwich Mill with John L Boughey, who were Agricultural Merchants where his general but very varied “ office duties “ also included diverse hands on work in the Mill. He still believes that the three years he worked there provided him with the best possible grounding and start in working life before leaving in 1966 to work at Rolls Royce.
He worked for Rolls Royce from 1966 to 1983 in their Purchasing Department starting initially as an Expeditor and eventually becoming Senior Buyer, a position he was and is still very proud to achieved. Since 1983 he has worked at Senior levels within Procurement with three Blue Chip Engineering Companies in the Stoke-on-Trent area before joining Virgin Media Business as their Purchasing Manager, North West Division in 2000 where he worked until October 2016.
He presently works on a part time basis at the Nantwich Bookshop & Coffee Lounge which enables him to engage with both Residents and visitors to the Town. He enjoys being the Council’s Representative with Nantwich in Bloom and Nantwich Food Festival Committees, is also a Member of the Nantwich Civic Society and the Nantwich Allotments Panel. He was also a member of the working group that developed the Towns Corporate Strategic Plan for 2020 – 2023.
Both Stuart and Kath are extremely honoured to be appointed as Mayor and Consort for the Municipal Year 2021/2022 and, in the hope that restrictions and opportunities are eased , look forward to meeting and talking to residents and visitors in the forthcoming year.
