Nantwich Traditional Market

There has been a market in Nantwich since 1500. The present building, at the junction of Market Street and Churchyardside, dates from 1867.

The Market operation is now managed by the Town Council following the transfer from Cheshire East in May 2012.

Stallholders sell a wide variety of goods including fresh produce and household items. The cosy cafe serves hot and cold snacks, drinks, breakfast and lunchtime specials.

The Indoor Market has 20 built in units and space for 20 stalls / open pitches across the floor of the hall.

The Outdoor Market has pitches for over 20 stalls.

Nantwich Town Council is committed to supporting the market for the benefit of the local community and traders alike and, since taking over, has made some improvements to the building including some long overdue repairs and better lighting.  The Council has also installed CCTV.

There is currently a waiting list for stalls.  To join the waiting list and check availability please contact the Market Supervisor.

Dementia Friendly Market

Market News

Local volunteer group “Creating Dementia Friendly Nantwich” has been working with traders in the Nantwich Indoor Market to become dementia friendly.

Chair of the group and owner of local home care business Right at Home, Ben Selby delivered a dementia friends information session with market traders to help them understand about how the disease can affect someone, and also what they can do to help.

Ben said “It was a really great session and listening to some the experiences traders have had with customers, it was very reassuring to hear that many of them have dealt with various situations very well in the past. I hope that with our support they can continue to build on this and offer a very safe shopping environment for people living with dementia to continue enjoying their local community.”

Dementia Friends sessions are available for free to all local business’ and organisations, and can be done virtually or in person and take no longer than 1 Hour, contact Right at Home on 01270 257347
