As part of its commitment to local community and voluntary organisations the Town Council again offers grants and donations to support local groups, activities and events. It is now considering the budget for 2016/17. The deadline for applications is 1st October for payment in the financial year starting the following April .
The grant support is given in 4 different ways;
Donations to local organisations
Each year the Town Council decides to donate money to environmental groups, cultural organisations and other community societies.
Grants up to £500
Applications for small grants up to £500 are invited throughout the year and are awarded subject to budget at the discretion of the Finance Committee.
Grants – £500 – £5,000
Each year the Council has a budget for larger grants and invites applications for projects that meet its grant criteria. The deadline for applications is 1 October for payment in April the following year. This allows the Council to build the commitment into its budget calculations for the next financial year.
The Council is also able to advance capital grants to support infrastructure projects. Eligible schemes can be supported by an outright grant from capital funds or through a low interest loan.
