CAPITAL GRANT APPLICATIONS

Capital Grant Guidelines.

Introduction.

The purpose of the Notes accompanying this letter is to assist applicants for Nantwich Town Council capital grants and, in exceptional circumstances, loans. The Council reserves the right to amend the guidelines in the light of experience and financial circumstances.

Nantwich Town Council has capital reserves as a result of the sale of land some years ago. The Council has made some capital grants in the past. It now wishes to formalise its procedures.

Use of capital funds.

The paramount concern of the Town Council is that any grant application must be for a capital project of benefit to residents of Nantwich.

Capital projects for which Council capital grants may be used are legally defined as of a capital nature e.g., new build, refurbishment / improvement of existing buildings, purchase of land etc., but not revenue e.g., payment of wages, running costs, heating, lighting etc. Capital grants can only be used for capital purposes.

Biannual grants awarded at the end of the year.

It is the intention of the Council to make monies available for external capital grants bi-annually. The amount and terms will be as the Council determine from time to time. Applications should be made by the end of each appropriate calendar year with decisions made by the Council a few months later. (Payment may be deferred up to 3 years, at the Council’s discretion).

The first awards can be applied for up to 31st December 2010. Decisions will be made in the new year 2011 for the financial year 2011/12 (i.e., a decision around March 2011). The next round of applications will be in 2012 for the year 2013/14.

How to apply.

Guidance Notes and an Application Form can be downloaded from the web site (click on the red text below).  If you do not have access to the internet please contact the Clerk at the Town Council. The form is to be returned by 31st December 2010. The applications will be considered in the first 3 months of next year.  A primary requirement is to attract matched funding, ideally from outside the area. Please read the Guidance Notes and the Application Form carefully before completing the form and returning it to the Town Clerk.
