Councillor David Marren is Mayor of Nantwich Town Council. He was invested at the Mayor Making ceremony held at Nantwich Civic Hall on Thursday 24th May 2018. He succeeds Councillor Penny Butterill who was Mayor in 2017/18.
Councillor Marren’s wife, Belinda, is his Consort and the Mayoress. David and Belinda have a daughter and a son, and five grandchildren.
David was born in Leek, Staffordshire and moved to the area in the 80’s to pursue a career at Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council. During this time, David had responsibility for many aspects of the town including waste collection, town cleansing, market, cemetery, allotments, leisure facilities and the Civic Hall.
After leaving the Council he was asked to undertake some consultancy work relating to the transfer of buildings and services from Cheshire East to Nantwich Town Council. Following this he was asked to stand for election as a Nantwich Town Councillor and has been delighted to have been elected and successful with the transfer negotiations with Cheshire East.
This year David has chosen to support North West Ambulance Nantwich First Responders, Nantwich Fire Cadets and Hope House as his charities.
