This year the service at the Airman’s Grave will be held on the nearest Sunday to the date of the accident on Sunday 12 January 2020 at 1.00pm.
The service will be led by the Revd. Dr Mark Hart, Rector of St Mary’s Church.
Officers of the Royal British Legion, Nantwich Branch, will form up on the Shrewbridge Road car park before moving to take part in the service at the grave.
Other participants are requested to assemble near to the grave.
Officers of the British Legion and the Mayor of Nantwich, Councillor Arthur Moran, will lay wreaths at the end of the service.
In future years the service will be held on the nearest Sunday to the date of the accident. The plane crashed on the outskirts of town on 14th January 1944. The brave pilot was 1st Lieutenant Arthur L. Brown, a 23-year-old New York man, a member of the United States Army Air Force.
